I have attended short courses at United Nations University in Tokyo-Japan; For United Nation Systems in Sustainable Development and the Natural Capital and Biodiversity Conservation. Training on Research Methodologies by Professors from Bonn University and University of Cologne. Extensive data analysis knowledge using Exel, SPSS and STATA. I have gained extensive knowledge on Field work especially with rural communities in a multicultural set up during my fellowship with CIFOR where I also co-authored some articles related to forest governance.

PhD research

My PhD research focuses on the implications of adaptation strategies for land use and land needs among the Maasai and Samburu pastoral communities in Kenya; Case of Kajiado and Samburu County. The thesis of this study therefore revolves around the following questions; (i) What are the existing climate change adaptation strategies among the Maasai and Samburu pastoralists in the past 30 years? (ii) How are adaptation strategies interacting with pastoralists land use and land needs? (iii) How do differences in wealth, gender and social networks affect people’s land needs and access for adaptation? The study will collect both primary and secondary data. Mixed method research design will be used for data collection, field work and surveys both quantitative and qualitative surveys will be used. Integration of the research findings will be used during the results interpretation.
